ASBESTOS LITIGATION: Status Confab Eyed for ABB Asbestos Plan ------------------------------------------------------------- Published July 11, 2003 Concerned parties in the asbestos-related case of Swiss engineering firm ABB's (ABB) have asked a US District Judge Alfred Wolin for a status conference. ABB trust appointee David Austern said he expected the judge to announce late next week a date for the status conference. "It's a technical nicety, to clarify who's going to do what, and what are the time limits," Mr. Austern said. According to Reuters, last month, a bankruptcy court judge tentatively the proposed asbestos settlement -- capping claims at $1,300,000,000 -- but asked for additional evidence. The ruling, if approved by the district judge, is seen as the turning point in ABB's battle for survival. ----------------------------------------------------------- LitigationDataSource.com
